Luthier Exhibition for Instrument and Bow Makers
19-25 January 2025, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Gateshead
Would you like to exhibit your instruments and/or bows at the world renowned Tertis and Aronowitz International Viola Competitions at The Glasshouse 19th- 25th January 2025? Incorporated within the competition week there will be a 360° Festival focussed on the viola and string playing with workshops, masterclasses, lectures and ensemble opportunities. We will be welcoming competition participants from around the world, university and conservatoire students, amateur violists, local music hubs and schools to work with leading professors and renowned performers of the highest calibre of the viola such as Nobuko Imai and Timothy Ridout.
We are creating a specialised programme of events, classes, concerts and tastings for instrument and bow makers from across the UK and Europe, one that we hope you will not want to miss out on! This luthier exhibition will like the rest of the week be celebrating the VIOLA, so we are encouraging you to ONLY bring VIOLAS and VIOLA BOWS with you to exhibit (if you would like, some provision will be made for violins and violin bows. Please do ask and we will consider requests if we can accommodate).
Luthier Exhibition: Format and Events
All instruments and bows will be displayed, labelled via a numbering system on communal tables and walls. There will be an online booklet provided with a biography of every maker incorporated within the full programme of events for the week. We have two designated members of staff who will be administrating and collating the display, creating the booklet and organising all the live events each day. We envisage a huge space with all makers mingling together, breakout areas to relax or engage with players wanting to talk about instruments and bows. We will have small spaces available for those customers wanting to try an instrument in a quieter and more private space.
